Frist part of the pictures of my field trip in the "Pays Basques", South West of France

Here is the first part of the pictures of the field trip I did in the Pays Basque. We went there to study the stratigraphy and the geological history of the region when it was under the ocean.
It was very interesting but very tiring and sometimes dangerous.

End of my internship in Brussel

Last friday was my "last" day of internship and it felt really weird to already leave this great team(pics above : regular lunch with my advisor and the phD students and the postdocs). Those past 6 weeks will have been so fast and in the same I did a lot of thinks and I learn a lot about glaciology and the polar sciences. I really liked this lab a lot cause people were friendly and very helpful and it was so nice to live in that great atmosphere for my internship.
Last friday, I also said bye to my dear "host familly" in Liège and it made me pretty sad to leave "la maison du bonheur", because I feel very lucky to have lived with Olivier, Sébastien and Jaqueline and I had such nice laugh and good time with all of them. It is great to live with such nice and openminded people and I will miss them a lot and be very happy to go in Liège again soon I hope.
So now, I am in Wageningen to work my exams and to write my internship report and I feel pretty stress, cause I have a meeting in Brussel on friday and I would like to have taken the more advance I can on my report. BUt I feel pretty good not to be obliged to take the train everyday anymore and to have some quiet time with Gert-Jan too.
Soon the pics of Easter week end....

Photo of my familly with our belgium friends and Helios !

Here is a nice photo od my familly and friend from Belgium which I just received from Marcella and which I like a lot. It was taken some time ago in "le Chapeau de Napoléon" which is one of the hill of my Valley in Switzerland.

Life in Belgium 2

This week is an holliday week in Belgium, so everything is really quiet. In the lab, everything is on hollidays or at the Environmental Sciences conferences in Vienna, so there is no noise and it is weird not to here the professors's laugh in the corridor.
I did some lab work and it is pretty interesting, I learnt a lot of new things, so I really see now that this internship made me discover many glaciological tools and practical work and that was my former goal therefore I am glad.
Last friday, I also discover Bruxelles a bit more in visiting with MarieB and this city is very nice and full of interest. Nevertheless, I can say now that I really prefer the dutch cities than the Belgium one, because for some reason I feel safer in the Netherland.
This week end my familly come in Belgium so I can not wait to them again, especially cause it made 4 months I had'nt seen them and my sister also.

So here are some pictures I just made, there is a picture of me going in the cold room, a picture of the nitrogen cold bath I do for my sampling (and i like that a lot because it is like making ice) and the colorful pictures of thin slides of ice under polarized light where we can see very good the ice cristals.
